Nutritious Healing Traditions

My life has been a long journey of yo-yo dieting started as a young adult. The focus was always on counting calories and losing weight, not on becoming a healthy eater.  All that dieting made me malnourished, destabilizing my hormones, slowing down my metabolism and keeping me overweight, the truth, obese.

This dysfunctional eating had an emotional basis having to do with low self esteem, and a lack of self love on my part.  My spiritual journey, my guide’s advice, and the therapies I am now certified to do, have all helped me to heal my emotional issues, thus, I now love myself, and I have learned to eat and move in balance and harmony with my body. 

As part of my healing regimen, I follow the Weston A. Price Foundation’s advice, and do most of my eating according to the book “Nourishing Traditions” by Sally Fallon.  She created recipes based on Dr. Price’s discoveries of the healthy traditional foods eaten by traditional cultures before the advent of refined foods that started in the early 20th century.  He proved that many of our modern diseases are really nutritional diseases caused by the lack of nutrition in our refined foods. 

Most of “Nourishing Traditions” recipes are based on using sea salt and whey to ferment grains, vegetables, nuts and meats, and on eating pasture fed animals including eggs and raw dairy, such as raw butter, raw cream for sour cream and crème fraîche, and raw milk to make yoghurt, buttermilk, kefir, piima milk and whey.

Weston A. Price and Sally Fallon have inspired me to eat traditional foods and to help others do the same.  As a result I prepare most of the books’ recipes as catering for sale.
